What is Scroll
Here's how it works:
- Transaction Submission: Users send their transactions to Scroll, which interacts with Ethereum's smart contracts.
- Off-Chain Processing: Scroll processes these transactions off-chain (not directly on Ethereum) using zkEVM. This makes things faster and uses less resources.
- Generating Proofs: As it processes transactions, Scroll creates special proofs (zk-proofs) to show the transactions are valid.
- Updating Ethereum: These proofs and the results of the transactions are then sent back to Ethereum's network.
- Verification and Finality: Ethereum checks these proofs and updates, making sure everything's correct. Once verified, these changes are final on the Ethereum blockchain.
In summary, Scroll's goal is to solve Ethereum's issues with slow speeds and high costs, making it easier and cheaper to use Ethereum for apps and transactions.
