Lens Protocol is a social media project on the Polygon blockchain, developed by Aave's team. It's changing social media for Web3 by letting content creators truly own their connections and data.
What is Lens Protocol
Here's how it works:
- User Ownership: Unlike traditional social networks, Lens Protocol lets users own their social graph. This means they can take their data, audience, and content to any app built on Lens Protocol without losing anything due to platform policies.
- Open Social Graph: It uses a graph database (GDB) with smart contracts, different from usual social media databases. This open structure lets any blockchain-based social media or app connect to it.
- Profile as NFTs: Users create profiles as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). This includes all content, like texts and photos, owned and controlled by the user.
- Modularity: The protocol is built to be updated with new features, keeping user data and social connections secure.
- Compatibility: It works with crypto wallets like MetaMask, making it interoperable with various platforms.
- Censorship-Resistant: Being a Web3 platform, it offers a space free from censorship.
In summary, Lens Protocol is about putting power back in users' hands in social media, using blockchain technology to ensure ownership, freedom, and flexibility.
